"Handel CD"
In Photoshop class, we were given an assignment to design a musical CD. At the time when I was learning Photoshop, I was really thrilled
about using organic materials. Being somewhat of a "purist", I scanned in hand made textured paper and drippings on paper from watercolor paints.
The borders were created from actually burnt parts of the paper.

"Cannery Rat"
A friend of mine who I met in Ketchikan Alaska, wrote a book about the experience of working in the Alaskan canneries.
In my very first computer class at RISD, I decided to design a cover for his book for one of our assignments. The illustration,
believe it or not, are various "potato prints."

"Lucies' Logo"
We were given an assignment in an advertising class to create a logo for a pseudo company called "Lucies Cup and Saucer". Stumped on what to create,
I was driving home, listening to the radio when the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" played. Immediately my
intuition told me to revolve the design around the song. I later drew Lucy in the night sky with a coffee cup as a hat and
a saucer as a device for flying. I later fit the diamonds in as stars, but my instructor told me it didn't need it. Since the
concept really came out of "left field", this is one of my favorites.

"Lucies Cup & Saucer"
A continuation of "Lucyies Cup and Saucer". Since we had an opportunity to create a full color tri-fold brochure for another
computer class a year later, I decided to create a design around the logo. Again my purist nature urged me to add the paper texture in
the background with roasted coffee bean colors.

"MacWorld cover"
This cover was created in Adobe Illustrator class. The "magician" illustration was sketched on paper and later scanned
and retraced in Illustrator.

"Pea Can Design"
A vegetable can redesign for Shaw's Market. Again, this was done in my so-called "purist" period and really got a lot of
mileage from scanning in textured paper. The illustration was actually done with a black pen and colored pencils.

"Craftbook Spread"
As part of the Risd's Certification Program, this was a project assigned to us in our final class. The idea was to utilize all of our newfound
skills to create an involved semester-long final project. Since during this time I was an arts and crafts teacher, I choose to create my own
craft idea book called "21 of my own Favorite Projects".

"Early Photoshop Study"
One of the very first times using Photshop. At the time I really got excited trying to create a surreal space by placing
objects out of context and in odd juxtapositions.

"Anime Study"
Another one of my assignments in Illustrator class. My idea was to use an existing "anime" illustration
and draw it out using the software. Although it became a great deal of work and at times challenging, it really forced me to learn the
tools and honed in on my drawing skills with a mouse.

"Interactive Television Logo"
Another assignment in advertising class to create a logo for Interactive Television. Similar to the Nike logo,
the logo was designed to be a simple mark that would be easily and immediately reckonizeable.

"Logo for the Alaskan Promotional Poster"
This logo was created at the last moment mainly for a poster assignment in Photoshop class. Since I was doing a travel
promotional poster of Alaska, I thought of creating a logo that centered around Northwest Native American folk art.

"Herbert Matter Poster"
This poster was created in a prepress class at RISD. Each student was assigned a world-renowned graphic designer to research and
produce a poster in the style of the designer. We were limited to an 11"x 17" space utilizing three pantone spot colors.
