"Coffee Labels for Coastal Roasters"

Developed four coffee labels for a local coffee roasting company in Tiverton, RI. The concept was to create each label indicating the area in which the coffee was grown. I created the collages to have the essence of each unique region. In addition, the postal marks and the stamp motif creates the feeling of travel.

"Festival of the Arts Poster"

As a volunteer designer for the festival, I was responsible to create promotional materials for the Festival of the Arts, one being an 11"x17" promotional poster. Since this was our 3rd Annual event, I thought I would have some fun revolving the design of the poster around the number three. The poster was produced economically by rasterizing the file directly to a Canon color copier.

"ReadyAbout Interactive Promotional Folder"

I considered myself fortunate to be the chosen designer for creating a promotional folder for ReadyAbout Interactive, not just for the freedom to design something interesting, but more for the complexity of the project. My decision was to emphasize the meaning behind the word "readyabout" which is actually a nautical term for changing direction. The 2-dimensional arrow in the logo I felt, was a strong representation of this meaning, which was taken to another level by placing it into a 3-dimensional environment. After the folder was produced, the design ended up setting a precedent for a fresh new look for ReadyAbout and to all of the company's future print collateral.

"ReadyAbout Interactive Promotional Material"

As soon as the folder project was completed, my next assignment was to design its content. Each folder would contain individual pages of; a biography of the company, a client list, the company's services and a variety of case studies. Influenced by the design of the folder, I continued to design the content by taking advantage of the new style. In addition, I used the 3-Dimensional arrow, originated on the folder, making it a consistent component in ReadyAbout's identity. Although the visual nature of the content is uniformed, subtle individuality to each page was made by shifting color and changing the direction and perspective of the arrow.

"ReadyAbout Interactive Xmas Card"

A little fun project that was created around the holiday season to send to our clients. Again, I obsessed about taking the 2-dimensional arrow from ReadyAbout's logo and placed it in a 3-dimensional context; in this case, in the form of a christmas tree ornament.

"Sex Mob Promotional Poster"

Don't let the title scare you! Sex Mob is a critically-acclaimed, fun yet sophisticated jazz band that has performed world-wide. On behalf of the band and as a volunteer for the Narrows Center for the Arts, I provided a promotional poster for a recent, local event. Since I was free to experiment, I decided to loosely associate the visual elements with the bands personality and a reflection of their musical style. Although loosely retro, the collage effect images the chaotic and fragmented patterns used in their improvisational jazz stylings.

"Digital Design Photoshop Tutorial"

Ask and you shall receive! Impressed with their tutorial spreads, I approached Digital Design Magazine to see if they would like me to write a Adobe Photoshop lesson. To my astonishment, the editor immediately gave me the go ahead. The tutorial I wrote, is about the way I like to develope collages in Photo shop by using organic textures from scans. The textures were used in an exercise on how layer masks can be applied and an introduction to the neglected "apply image" command. View an online version of the tutorial.

"Castle Awards Advertisement"

Castle Awards is a local specialty shop that provides screenprinting, embroidery, trophies, awards and promotional marketing materials. The advertisement was a first attempt at creating a consistent design presence in their business to business market. The chessboard motif was used to support the symbolizism within the logo and the small thumbnail pictures represent a variety of services the company provides.

"Castle Awards Advertisement in Black and White"

A black and white version of the previous advertisement for Castle Awards. Since the dimensins were different, the composition needed to be altered.

"Flipbook Studios Promotion"

Flipbook Studios was the creation of two graphic designers, one of them being myself. Since we greatly appreciate "retro" design, we took great enjoyment promoting ourselves by spoofing old advertisements. The "Flipbook Polish" was an actually button we created in a press, then attached to the card. A magnet was attached to the back of the button so the potential customer was able to peel it off easily and hang it on their filing cabinet.

"George Jacome Promotional Card"

George Jacome's promotional card for his political campaign for mayor of Fall River. Since I really didn't have much to work with visually, I decided to create the background with the combination of the american flag and a prominent landmark of Fall River, the Braga Bridge.

"Michael Troy Promotional Poster"

After creating a web site and a business card, Michael Troy's manager approached me to create a promotional poster. To emphasize Michael's music and storytelling, I decided to manipulate a black and white photograph of Michael by adding subtle organic textures and a sepia duotone. Since Michael's music has a solid traditional essence, the nostalgic feel of the promotional poster visually represents his music, allowing the viewer to define the artist at a quick glance.

"Michael Troy CD Design"

This is a sneak peek at Michael Troy's, soon to released second Album Design. The Cd insert will fold out to display six individual panels front and back.

"Xchange CD_ROM Traysheet and CD Screenprint"

In addition to creating the CD_ROM interface for Xchange's sales representatives, we at ReadyAbout also had the duty to produce and print the tray sheet and CD cover. The design reflects the strict accordance to Xchanges style guides and its current graphic elements. The traysheet was a traditional 2-spot color print and the CD was screenprinted. About 2,000 CDs were produced.
